We designed and built a 30'x52' Pole Building for ourselves. We GC'd (General Contracted) the entire Project. The beginning of the project required us to work with the town to apply for a building permit. We created the CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) blueprints that were submitted with the permit application. These drawings were also sent to the vendors, including concrete, HVAC, building materials (lumber, engineered trusses, interior and exterior steel), and the electrician. We decided to heat the building with in-floor heating. The building design was a 30'x52' footprint, with 14' wall height, and 2' roof overhangs. The framing is 2"x6" walls with triple studs every 4'. The exterior and interior walls are all steel. The colors chosen were red exterior walls with a gray wainscot, black trim, black windows and doors, and a gray roof. The interior walls and ceiling were white steel.
The Build:
The site was prepped by the excavator, then concrete vendor prepped the ground for the 30x52 foundation. Once, prepared we worked together with the HVAC vendor to install the 2" rigid insulation and the in-floor heating tubing. The concrete floor was poured with the optional center drain. After curing, we completed the construction of the walls in 8' sections. We hired a local Amish builders to install the roof trusses, steel roof, and steel exterior walls. The garage door company installed the (2) 10'x10 'and 16'x10' insulated black steel garage doors. The electrician installed the 200 Amp panel. We wired the entire building, insulated, and put up the white steel walls and ceiling, and finished with the LED lighting. On the exterior we installed lighting, duplex receptacles, security cameras, and the Ring Security camera. Luckily, we were able to get Fiber Internet. Since the steel walls block the WIFI signals(Faraday Cage), we installed a WIFI extender on the roof, along with an FM Antenna. The excavator retuned to finish and grade the area with stone. Included was an area for our 5th Wheel RV. We had the propane vendor install a 500 gallon tank and had them plumb propane to both the building, the RV, and the future site for our house.
